"Insta-Bed Review"

Here's my situation: For the summer, I moved across the country to do research. I needed a bed upon getting here that would be durable and comfortable for 10 weeks and portable enough to bring home so I wouldn't lose the investment. I looked at a few different products and eventually chose this, I couldn't be happier.

Misconceptions: While trying to find the manufacturer website, I couldn't find anything through Wenzel, however, a search for Insta-Bed quickly found the original webpage. Additionally, the bed I received is the style in the picture and not what some other sites showed (although the color I received is actually a greenish shade.

Impression:

This bed is enormous, I knew it was raised but has not expecting this. I can sit on the edge of this bed with my feet on the ground and my knees forming a 90 degree angle (I'm 6 foot tall) Width wise it seems that this could easily fit 2 people. The pump is a little quieter than a vacuum and takes only a few minutes to fill the bed. Its incredibly comfortable for an air mattress. If money isn't an issue I suggest a mattress pad or foam topper but it is definitely not necessary to enjoy the night. The design is very supportive and I never feel as though I'll roll off. I've found that the sides bulge slightly more than the picture. As for air loss, I've only had it for a week and have found no problems. Each day I turn the pump on for about 10 seconds to compensate for the natural stretching of the plastic, I'll wait to see if this is still required after the mattress is broken in. Overall I am extremely impressed with this mattress. I have no doubt it will last the 10 weeks and it is the most comfortable air mattress I've slept on. The size is a huge benefit especially for the price.

"Best Air bed!"

Best Air mattress I have ever experience. I had it inflated for more than a week and it did not lose any air

"Great bed"

We are newly retired and will be visiting our children and their family in various parts of the country. We just take our bed with us. It is a dream to sleep on! We love it. We gave one away as a house warming gift and had to buy a second one.

We bought a good mattress pad just to make sure it felt more like a bed than an air mattress. Holds air overnight and we give it a quick pump before bed the next evening. We could not be happier with it.

"Completely met expectations"

...I read reviews (mostly favorable) here before purchasing it and the product has fully met (and possibly exceeded) my expectations. First, perhaps it is luck of the draw, but I did not have any leakage problems whatsoever -- to the contrary, while I waited for my furniture to arrive (during an out of state move), this bed served as my only piece of furniture (so I was sitting/reclined on it quite a bit) over the course of nearly a month - and it was more comfortable than the bed I had been sleeping on while briefly staying in a hotel! Every three days or so, I would have to add a little bit of air (like 30 seconds of effort) - but I attributed this to the fact that I spent so much time on it (as I said, I used this as my bed AND as a "couch").

As for particularly good aspects of this product -- I especially like the fact that the air mattress is so "tall" (compared to most air mattresses I have used before this one). It makes it feel less like an air bed and more like a real bed (no crawling around on the floor and very easy to get in and out of bed). Also unlike other air mattresses I have used before, this one is very helpful in that the same motor that it uses to inflate, it also uses to suck air out when you are deflating it -- so gone are the days of searching for (and emptying) random air pockets when you are trying to roll up the mattress and put it away -- this was an unexpected bonus!

The only "negative" I can really give it is that if you have two people sleeping on it, you do tend to roll into the middle a little bit. However, because I am so accustomed to sleeping on Tempurpedic (my usual bed), perhaps this is because I have forgotten what it is like to sleep on non-Tempurpedic mattresses (e.g., I rolled in to the center of the hotel's non-tempurpedic bed also)....

"Won't hold air."

Just purchased 2 of these bed for my upcoming camping trip this weekend. Received it in two days using prime shipping. Tested both and both would not hold air over night. I would understand having one of them being a defective unit, but both???

There are two separate air chambers in this bed. Outer air chamber seems to be fine on both untis but I think it's the mid air chamber that is leaking. I also noticed that there aren't any "support" on mid section either.
