"Excellent family tent"

Please note that I haven't used this tent in the rain. I have yet to experience how it handles that. However, I have used it for a week, and it works well. It sets up quickly once you get the hang of it. The instructions are a little hard to follow. All the zippers work well, except for the expansion zipper on the carrying case. That broke the first time I tried to use it. But hey, it's not critical. The kids all loved having their own room that could be completely sectioned off. I liked how it has a bunch of hooks to hang flash lights and battery powered lanterns.

"Great tent"

We did a lot of research, and purchased a another tent this spring before getting this one. We tried to go inexpensive, and paid for it with our first tent breaking and falling on top of us in the middle of the first night we camped in it. Granted we were on the beach and it was a very strong wind storm. As we were leaving the campground, this Columbia tent is one of the only tents we saw still standing. Now that we have it, have used it a few times now and we love it. It is constructed well, all of the details are well thought out.

It is extremely easy to put up and take down. Normally my husband and I do it together in about 15 minutes. Yesterday I had to put it up to finish drying out and I did it myself in less than 20 minutes.

While camping this past weekend we had a good strong wind and rain storm, and the tent held up great. We did get some puddles by the door, but we didn't have the guy lines staked out on the fly - so that would have helped.

We fit a queen air mattress on one side with plenty of room for our bags and room to walk on either side of the mattress and through to the other room. In the other room we fit a twin air mattress, a pack-n-play and the kids' bags, and still had plenty of room between the kids' beds and room to walk. This tent is huge. The back room is well ventilated even leaving you plenty of privacy, the front room has okay ventilation for a tent(if you still want some privacy), great ventilation if you don't have to worry about privacy.

Since the awning is not over the door, don't count on using it as a traditional awning to store muddy shoes, keep the rain off as you go in and out of the tent. But it is great to put a small table to store things out of the rain, or to sit under to keep out of the rain or sun. We stored our camp chairs under it during the rain storm and they were dry in the morning - and the awning stayed up through the wind.

This is a fantastic tent. Get your own stakes, as usual, the stakes that come with it are not great and bend very easily. But you will not be disappointed with this tent. It is great for a young family - the back room has no exterior door so the kids cannot get out without going over you. And as the kids grow up, you can use the front almost as a screen room.

"Wow...what a great tent!!!"

Okay, the vacation...not so good, but the tent was great. It not only rained every day, but I mean it poured, hard. We had no leaks, whatsoever. The best part was that we could leave the windows open because of how they tilt out. I do recommend sealing the seams. We did this with the seam sealer that is included with the tent.

"Good but could be better"

This is a good tent - I purchased this family size tent after using Eureka! tents for years. I've used it 7 times so far this season.

What I like:
* Size - this tent is spacious inside.
* Accessories - cup holders and storage bins are well thought out.
* Appearance - this tent looks nice and we've received compliments on it.
* Venting - with the windows unzipped this tent stays fairly cool inside. With the windows zipped and the bottom back air vents open it does a moderate job circulating air.
* Security - my kids sleep in the second room and I love knowing that no one can come or go without coming through my room in the tent.
* color coded tent poles.

What I don't like:
* The rain fly takes as long to put on the tent as the rest of the tent takes to build. If you like to try and leave the fly off at night, if it starts to rain, you will have a very hard time putting this fly on in the dark and with any speed. Especially given the number of tie downs on the thing (8).
* If every cord isn't tied down on the tent then it greatly increases the probability of leaks. This tent does a fair job of keeping rain out depending on how well it is tied down. The tie downs round out the roof-line and let the rain roll off of it instead of pooling up and leaking into it.
* After 6 uses one of the bay window tent poles broke while in use. The pole snapped and the window went from nice and round to being "v" shaped. The lesson learned here is always camp with a tent pole repair kit. Fortunately the repair wasn't difficult, but I was disappointed in the pole cracking after only 6 uses.

Overall, I'm happy with the tent purchase and would recommend this tent to a friend.

"Surdy, Roomy and Reliable!" 2010-06-08

We love this tent - it was a first tent purchase for us and our 3 children, and we researched it thouroughly as we are new to camping! It is roomy and we love the two room feature. This weekend we were using it at our town's Relay for Life for the American Cancer Society. The Relay was evacuated in the evening due to bad weather and heavy storms headed our way. We were told to leave all our belongings and go. I was so sad to leave our beautiful tent! The local newspaper just ran a story stating that of the 114 team campsites, there were 2 tents at the fairgrounds left standing...1 was our Columbia! It shook so hard that the bedrolls we had secured in the overhead netting were shaken loose, and one of the round rings that secure the main poles at the groun now looks a bit more like an oval, but our tent was standing. Only a tiny bit of the floor was wet in one corner. In fairness, we did have some heavy things inside the tent that helped to weigh it down, and there was a partial building behind us a ways that may have borken the winds a bit, but 2 tents left standing...that's impressive. I highly recommend this tent. After we bought ours, our friends bought the same one after doing research and they love theirs too! You will be the envy of your camping friends and neighbors! :)
