"Great Value in a Mesh Chair, But A Touch Small for "XL"" 2010-07-15
By S. Cirian (Chicago)
Overall, I gave it 4 stars and would buy it again after a lot of comparison shopping for a chair with mesh insert.

Our old chairs (different brand, first generation quad chair, ridiculously heavy, very sweaty) finally started falling apart, so it was time to look for new ones. One of the key things I looked for was mesh in both the top and bottom, since our old ones made you pretty sweaty in summer, and that is when you mostly use these. (Did I mention the old ones were sweaty?)
So these fit the bill. Some details on the Coleman XL Broadband Quad w/ Mesh:

Pros:

- Mesh is nice and cool compared to solid fabric panels
- Solid construction
- Lightweight (Amazon site says about 6 - 7 lbs; seems right without actually weighing, and that is much lighter than a lot of the competition, which weighs in as much as 13 lbs)

Cons:

- XL is a bit misleading - they just fit me (6' 2" and 220 lbs, reasonably in shape). This is what made me give 4 stars, not 5.
- Coleman makes an XXL (or XXXL?) quad which is significantly larger, but not available in mesh. If it was, I would have bought that instead. (Kmart and Sears sell a Northwest Territory "Big Boy Mesh" which is the only one of these with mesh that I could find, but they are a pain to order from - web site says in stock but they canceled 4 orders for out of stock even though the web sites says in stock.)
- Time will tell how well the mesh insert stands up to wear and tear. But all of the competition with mesh inserts will have the same question. (The NRS Duramesh chair's name would imply it is more durable than the competition, but for almost 3 times the price it darned well better be.)
- Only one cupholder. Not that I need to have 2 beverages at hand, but it would be nice to have the 2nd cupholder for snacks or other things around the campfire, like a lighter, cell phone, etc.
- The back could be a little higher. At around 36", it hits me a little low on the shoulders, but again this seems to be about the same for most of the competition. (Coleman - please make a version in XXL!)

Overall, this is great value for the money and I would buy again.

"Good enough for Afghanistan" 2010-06-10

Just got this chair today great quality and build the box was completly destroyed upon arrival but the chair was still in one whole peice folded it out and sat in it passed out on the chair like i do at home. great buy for the price and coleman quality has never really let me down. Highly recomend, but if you want a wider chair for the big guys out there get the XXXL version this XL is a lil narrow but just enough to sit my 190lb body in comfortably.
