"STILL WORKING AFTER 5 YEARS!"
 2010-07-02
By Valorie Spencer (Palm Harbor, FL United States)
I bought 2 of these fans about 5 years ago. At first we only used them at night. I was AMAZED that I could run it all night (it is COMPLETELY SILENT) on a 4 night trip and it was still going strong. I've since bought 2 more as gifts. Sometimes I attach them to the canopy over our picnic table or just carry them. We use these fans on every trip and I never worry about them falling or breaking or running out of juice. I don't know what others are doing with their fans to have such poor performance. I keep mine in a coffee can between trips, in a hot attic (w/o battery of course) and they work time and and time again with no problems. I just pull off the propellers and put the pieces in the can. Simple. With the magnetic grip you can attach it right to the gear loft and enjoy a great breeze just like having a ceiling fan. I love them. By the way... you might think open blades are a safety issue but they are very gentle and stop the instant they encounter an obstruction. I've stuck my fingers in them many times (as have my children) and they have been totally harmless. The blade stops instantly and it doesn't hurt one bit. It's kind of a good party joke. The magnet is super strong and holds tight. I wish I had these when my kids were in strollers.

"Very nice fan"

I almost didn't buy this fan after reading some of the bad reviews on Amazon but I needed a fan and needed it fast so I thought, what the heck. Many of the bad reviews point out that the fan is not strong or doesn't blow a lot of wind. Well yeah, but... It runs on 2 D cell batteries and runs for quite a whole on those batteries which is good. I found if you wanted air for just one person, this fan was excellent at doing that. So if you've got 3 or 4 people in your tent, you will need 3 or 4 fans and position them over each person. The magnet attachment feature works very nicely and holds securely and is also easy to take off when you're done and tearing down camp. The small footprint of the thing is nice too. It's not too heavy and doesn't take up much space.

So overall, read the reviews on Amazon but realize that for the price and size of this thing, it works well and does it's job, just don't expect "huge industrial fan" type performance.

"tent fan" 2010-06-04

This fan works but it has very weak tabs that hold the battery in and was sent to me broken. I contacted the seller but was ignored. I wouldnt buy it from anyone .The bitterness of poor quality lasts far longer than the sweetness of low price.

"Does the job, but got some issues" 2010-06-03

I read the reviews and had concerns, but it was the only fan that I could get in time for a campout. Overall, the fan works. It was really hot and this fan circulated the air in my 4-man tent. While I wasn't in danger of being blown out of the tent, it did push the air around and provide a gentle breeze. There is very little chance of the fan falling because the magnet that connects the back plate which goes on the outside of the tent and the rest of the fan is strong...really strong. So strong that when I pulled the fan off the back plate, the back batter cover which the magnet is attached stayed stuck to the back plate. The next time I removed the fan, I thought I knew better and held on the sides where the battery cover locks on to the fan. This time the glue that holds the magnet on the battery cover pulled a part leaving the magnet still attached to the back plate. Time to break out the liquid nails glue. I'll keep the fan, it works, but Coleman should redesign the fan. The tabs that hold the battery cover to the rest of the fan is really thin and I can see it breaking easily with the magnet that strong.

"Meh." 2010-05-14By Lisa Higgins (Wilmington, DE)
This product is small and not very powerful. I have used it numerous times and eventually went out and bought two battery operated standalone fans...this didn't do the trick for us and didn't circulate enough air. I also really don't like the magnet mechanism that holds this in place - especially when using with a mesh area, it really pulls and could damage your tent.

I would not buy this item again. Lesson learned.
